“I went to gather roses and twine them in a ring, For I would make a posy, a posy for the King. I got an hundred roses, the loveliest there be, from the white rose vine and the pink rose bush and from the red rose tree….” Roses by Joyce Kilmer
Roses are beautiful, they are seductive, and some have an intoxicating scent. For centuries, poets have sung their praises, artists have painted them and gardeners have given the rose bush an important place in the garden. I love roses and I have some in my garden. I love the scent of roses and rosewater. In my dreams, I have rolled on a bed of sweet rose petals. I always stop to smell roses in bloom. Given my love for roses, it was not a surprise when I bought a few strands of rose beads a couple of years ago. After a few days, I made Rosewater Necklace and loved it. Now, almost 2 years later, I have finished it in 2 more dreamy colors.
Rosewater Necklace is sweet and romantic, just as a rose in full bloom. The rose beads are surrounded by crystals, seed beads and other beads and look like they belong in a dew-sprinkled garden. The pendant in the center is punctuated with a teardrop bead that resembles a dew drop. This classy and feminine necklace comes in combinations of pastel hues and will be perfect for day or evening.
Techniques: Peyote, ladder and other embellishment stitches. Length: 19” long, pendant drop 3 ½” approximately. Level: Suitable for Intermediate level beaders. Kits coming soon.
