This listing is for a Zoom virtual class with kit included. The class will be held on Oct 12 and Oct 15, 5pm to 8pm EST, 2pm-5pm PST. This is one workshop held over 2 days with a 2 day gap in between. It is perfect for catching up on beadwork before the 2nd half of class. More details will be sent after purchase.

With a bold presence and classic sophistication, Anicia’s Gift Necklace showcases the beauty of jewelry from the ancient world. From the dawn of civilization, people have adorned themselves with jewelry. Gold was popularly used by ancient civilizations all over the world. Granulation was one of the techniques whereby a surface is covered in tiny dots of precious metal. It was popularly used by Minoans, Etruscans, and later by the jewelers of the Byzantine Empire.
Anicia’s Gift Necklace uses tiny seed beads and other beads to simulate the granulation technique on jewels from the bygone era. A beaded net drapes over a semiprecious cabochon, allowing the gemstone to show its color all around. This statement-making pendant hangs from a bead woven rope with embellished elements. Anicia Juliana, a Roman Imperial princess from Constantinople, would have owned a necklace similar to this, only dripping with diamonds, genuine gemstones and pure gold.
Techniques: Bead embroidery and bead weaving. Peyote, Ndebele herringbone, fringe and basic embroidery stitches.
Length: 20" long, pendant 2" round. Level: Intermediate. Must have good knowledge of basic bead embroidery and beadweaving stitches.
This workshop will teach how to transform a plain-looking cabochon into something gorgeous. Students will also learn how to incorporate chaton montees and Swarovski crystals in settings into the project for a dose of sparkle.
Kit includes all the beads necessary to make one necklace in your choice of color and a detailed tutorial with step-by-step illustrations.
Class Fee: $70.00 per person. Kit fee: $75.00. Total: $145.00. If you would like a 2nd kit, message me.
Please note all kits will ship in September. There is no overseas shipping at this time.
