Happy New Year 2014 to all my friends, beaders hopping my blog, students and loyal customers! Lumiere Necklace is the pretty present I made for myself to celebrate the New Year! Beautifully crafted with Swarovski fancy mounted chatons in Topaz and Siam, and antique gold-plated seed beads, this necklace twinkles like the lights from ornate lanterns in grand Moorish palaces. This necklace is perfect for a woman who craves a striking addition to her jewel box! As I held a bunch of crystals in Topaz and Siam colors in my hands, I was mesmerized by the color and brilliance of the stones. I decided to use the colors together. Since I had just come back after a visit to Dubai with its grand modern buildings, mosques and souks all adorned with lanterns made of glass, brass, clay and paper in eye-catching designs, I wanted to incorporate the Middle Eastern design in my necklace. The components were easy to design and were done in a couple of days. But putting them together as a necklace was a whole other thing. After trying various ways of arranging the components, I finally liked the composition as 2013 was coming to an end. And I finished it on New Year’s Eve much to my delight! More photos and other color ways coming soon!
