First Reveal 7th BSBP

4 Uncategorized

It is time to reveal what I made with all the wonderful beads Renetha, www.lamplightcrafts.blogspot.com,  sent me almost 6 weeks ago! I must thank Lori Anderson, for not only hosting this challenge but also giving me an opportunity to make so many friends who constantly amaze me with creative use of materials! For Casbah Earrings and Necklace I used mostly the beads that were sent to me except for tiny seed beads and turquoise rounds. I worked mostly in brick stitch and made long chandelier earrings. I made a matching necklace too, since there were a lot of beads and I really loved the colors, copper, brass and gold with turquoise! This is a combination that I will use again! For Quaking Aspen Necklace, I used the unique copper findings and components that Renetha sent me with all the beads in earth colors. The lovely ceramic bird had to be the pendant! I approached this design as creating a painting or sculpture. I made an asymmetric necklace, with a peyote beaded branch, ripe berries and seed pods. The bird sits at the end of the branch, with dried leaves and seed pods dangling below. I finished it with silk cord and clasp. I used very pretty lentil beads that were in the soup to make dangle earrings. The lentil beads are turquoise on one side and metallic on the other. These beads quiver and shimmer when the earrings move! I also made another pair of earrings called Black Sand. I love the black handmade beads and wanted to make a simple pair of earrings that I could wear frequently. I have some more great beads left and plan to make more jewelry with them.
