Fine Vine Necklace

4 Uncategorized

Give me odorous at sunrise a garden of beautiful flowers where I can walk undisturbed.  ~Walt Whitman. Jasmine flowers have an irresistible fragrance that is second to none in all of creation! Well, sometimes I love fragrant roses more than anything in this world! Now, looking at pictures of jasmine flowers brings back fond memories of walking through the flower market with my grandmother and my mother, buying the buds by the kilo to be strung later at home before a big celebration. After dinner, I would sit in a circle with my mother, aunts, and grandmother and make garlands. I looked forward to this ‘circle time’ for one more reason. I loved to listen to their gossip and jokes which I did not always understand! At my wedding, jasmine flowers were braided into my hair and I wore jasmine garlands around my neck. The wedding hall was decorated with  jasmine, marigold and roses. I have been saving strands of pearls that look like little flower buds for the right design inspiration to come along. A slender jasmine vine full of pearly white buds seemed perfect. And here is my Fine Vine Necklace that drapes around the neck gracefully. Made with freshwater pearls, gold seed beads and a gold vermeil blue crystal pendant, this necklace is perfect for your special day! The same design would make a lovely bracelet too! Earrings made with Swarovski crystal, pearls and seed beads. Instruction and kits coming soon! Until then, happy beading! Thank you, Usha and Mohanraj, for lovely photos of Jasmine buds!
