A couple of years ago I saw some women –all talented beaders—gathered around a table full of pretty glass buttons who were just picking one or two of each color. Intrigued, I asked them what they were going to do with it. “Jewelry, of course!” they replied. I went ahead and bought some colorful buttons. One of my favorites that I selected was a luminous green and purple daisy button with antique gold center. I ended up using this button in Dalia Verde Necklace by embellishing it with other vibrant seed beads and crystals. I also selected some purple and gold buttons of different sizes. I found some fresh water pearls that matched the colors in the buttons and I immediately knew what I wanted to make. I decided to make a Renaissance inspired necklace with a lavish use of pearls, crystals, and seed and cylinder beads, along with beaded beads that I created. I enjoyed making this Timeless Necklace and am thrilled with the way it turned out. I made the Hima pendant with a simple, white and gold button. For some reason, this reminds me of snowy mountains and golden sunshine. I decided ‘Hima’ was a perfect name for it after my recent trip to the Himalayas.
